Watching this was part of the reason I applied for MSU. I loved looking at this from an outsiders perspective: a total college town built around the university itself instead of vice versa. So glad it’s my Alma Mater. GO GREEN!!

Syracuse University is NOT small either physically or in terms of population. The remarks about its size make me question everything in this video. Additionally, the lack of Black, Asian, LGBT and other minorities in the video is deeply troubling. I am deeply disturbed by the use of the term “jap” (Jewish American princess) along with a depiction. Are we supposed to ignore the blatant anti-semitism? While Syracuse has long been considered a party school, there is no mention of the great number of students whose emphasis is academic. The statements about the importance of fraternity/sorority life are misleading because the vast majority of students choose not to participate in greek organizations.The overall sense of this video is that SU is a white, preppy, bigoted institution where partying is the main activity. Of course, Syracuse is located in the snow belt so winters are snowy. Is the cold unbearable? Of course not, or there would not be the high demand to attend nor the high degree of participation in winter sports and activities. Syracuse is an excellent school and I am proud to have earned both a B.Mus and M.Mus degree from it. Is it a perfect institution? No, but it is far more than what is presented in this video.

These Greeks don't let minorities in (past the quota) hence why these parties are really white. Source: My dad was a professor here for 35 years. I grew up in Tuscaloosa and got my bachelor's there.

Anyone else saw blood on the floor? They hit you in the stomach until you throw up blood, then somehow close it. Eat lunch, then one radish, if your back is curved, if you are an international student contact your country's authorities right away. They go as far as harassing your family member and doing the same. Concussions, people keep falling on the floor. The primary purpose if to keep falling on the floor without knowing why. Damn COVID. My mates and I were going to tailgate at the Texas vs LSU game. LSU fans are pretty Damn cool. I had the chance to hang out with some back in '05 when they stomped Miami in the Peach Bowl.

The video really seems to highlight the fact that you must endure cold winters at MSU. While it is certainly true that winters are cold, if you are from a northern state it's really no big deal. I see the time stamp on this video is just after the arctic blast winter of 2013/2014. That winter was unprecedented...it was BRUTAL! The entire great lakes system froze over for the first time in decades. A typical winter at MSU is harsh but not really as big a deal as the video portrays. I remember massive tackle football games breaking out during snowstorms, or snowball fights between dorms. We actually enjoyed many aspects of the cold Michigan winters. MSU is a happy place, non-pretentious, with great social and academic life. It has arguably the most beautiful campus in the country.
